Key summer signing and Midfield creator Cesc Fabregas is set to return for Chelsea as they look to ramp up the pressure on Title Rivals Manchester City this Wednesday night, with victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho confirmed this at his pre match news conference. Mourinho went on to say that Fabregas was protected for the 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday, and that putting in two risky players was far to big a gamble. Willian started that game despite not being fully fit. Mourinho also spoke of how he is very pleased with having Ramires back to his best, after a season plagued by injury, and falling behind the dominant midfield pairing of Matic and Fabregas.
One would think however that no matter how pleased Jose is with his box to box Brazilian, he will happily drop him to the bench to allow his main play maker to take his place in the starting 11. Fabregas has been crucial in helping Chelsea break teams down this season, something they struggled to do at times last term. Especially the teams lower down the table, so he will be crucial against an Everton side laying in 12th spot.
Operating from the same deep midfield role he occupied at Arsenal, Cesc has been drifting round the pitch controlling games all season. His League high 15 assists is nearly double that of second place men Leighton Baines and Gylfi Sigurdsson. The stats back up just how crucial everybody says the £35 million man is to Chelsea and their quest for a fourth Premier League title.
